Default A situation I\'ve never really been sure about...

Bottom pair, OOP position, you bet the flop and get called on a nothing board with no draws in a nothing pot. Then the turn brings an inevitable overcard which also happens to be a "scare" card in this particular hand.

Never really been sure about this spot.

Who's betting the turn again? Who's check/folding regardless of the SB's action?

If you bet the turn and are called again, what is your river action?

All comments appreciated:

Reads matter very much.

I would tend to bet the turn because lots of players will take one off with two overcards on that flop (and sometimes with significantly less). If I get called again, I generally check-fold the river becuase your pair is so small. I'm fairly confident that if they call a bet with the king on board, they've got a pair of something and I'm very likely behind.

Theres noway I fire again on turn with two callers on the flop. Not with bottompair on a drawless board. On the flop you realy want to take it down right away and it's a smallish pot so why put anymore money inthere.?

HU I lean towards bet/fold depending on the player.

I suspected some of you would say this is a very read specific situation. And I agree.

At the moment, I only play these 6-max games once in a while as a break from my regular game so I don't have much in the way of notes on my opponents. But I am beginning to gather some data so hopefully my future 6-max posts will contain more reads.

After seeing a couple of responses I'm starting to think that the default play in this spot, given the avg. looseness of players in this game, should be to fire again on the turn and then check/fold the river unimproved.

I typically don't like to take that line but I think the king falling gives me good cover from some nonsense hand peeling another off on the turn and then bluffing the river.

I'm probably check/folding the turn. The only things calling the flop that we beat (besides some weird 45 or so) are overcards, which just improved. Pot is small. Any non-ace or two could be bad. We may be down to 5 outs already. If this was HU, or the turn was a 9 or so, I'd be more inclined to bet. I'm probably check/folding this baby.

Check-fold or try to have better reads in the future.
