I'd like to find out what kind of cards your cardroom uses. We're currently using the "new" US Playing cards version of KEM and they're BAD. They stick together so bad you cant spread the deck and they're a lot thinner than the good KEM cards use to be. I called Copag today and they can't sell in Mississippi. Anyone out there use Gemaco? We tried A-Plus for a while and they marked up so bad it wasn't funny.

The new kems suck so badly I wouldn't let my dog take a dump on them, he has more taste than that. They stick badly, won't spread out, and just plain suck ASS.

The copag cards kick ass, all types. I have three different type of setups personally, the wide style, the thinner poker style, and the large face style, and I love all of them. Every deck I have is like brand new, and some of them I've had quite a while, and they get used.

In the cardroom the copags behave much better and last longer, even in the automatic shufflers. They never stick and seem to wear well. Although the faces tend to fade some with extended use, the backs stay nice and perty. Overall I swear by copag cards these days.

I don't use any of the other brands so I won't comment on those.

I'm not a dealer, (though I would be if there were a casino close to my school) but I just got back from playing with new KEMs, and the dealers more or less hate them, now that they've seen some use. We had a couple misdeals from the sticking. And yes, they're incredibly flimsy. I've played with old KEMs too, and they were a little better, less sticky and a little sturdier. As for marking, the backs don't mark, but the faces are staring to get scuffed up more than I'd think they would in, say, 2-3 weeks of use.

The main reason the dealers hate them, though, is they say the faces have smaller print and are hard to read. Even a player complained about it too. I don't have a problem with it, but I also have 20/16 vision with my glasses on.

Also, the ShuffleMaster auto-shufflers that are in this cardroom all seem to be non-functional, though they worked fine with Gemacos before.

I'd love to go to Copag's but the distributor told me on the phone that Mississippi Gaming charges like $20,000 to get licensed in the state to sell the cards. I guess gaming needs to test the cards and make sure everythings cool. He'd need more than a few casinos to commit to using Copag before they'd be willing to pay the 20k. I can't say I blame them.

www.cardbycopag.com is where I ordered them. They shipped them out and I got them in 2 days. I dont know if this is where you tried, but they are great with their service.

We use the "new" KEMS also and feel the same way. We have also found that many of the decks have a noticeable, round indentation close to the center of the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], about the size of a pencil eraser. Very nice... [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] Any of you find these also?

Is there any way you can get them through Harrah's "central procurement"? Probably more red tape than it's worth.

i don't diddly about cards....
just wanted to add that the last time I played at horseshoe (late June I think) we had a couple of dealers struggling with the cards.

i'm assuming they were using the cards you are referring to at this time.

it would appear that chip777 is not being terribly nitpicky about this and that the dealers there REALLY were having issues with the cards.


couple of similar problems when I played at the Mirage in Vegas. got dealt 3 hole-cards a coupl,e of times due to stickyness. wonder if they are using the same cards there.

The cards have to be approved by Mississippi gaming. It has nothing to do with where we buy the cards.

If I remember correctly, the Borgata uses Bee brand plastic playing cards, which have a similar diamond pattern to paper Bees but are customized for the Borgata. I thought they were very nice cards; a little rougher finish than the Kems, but I felt this may actual make them easier to handle.

My suspicion is that these cards were quite expensive, though. I assume they're US Playing Card Co. like the paper version.
