Lots of outs
I found this hand amusing.
Online NL, 7-handed. Villain is UTG+1 with 79 BB. Hero is the button with 98 BB. I just joined the table, am multitabling different games, and have no reads on anyone. However, this was a particularly fishy time to play on that site. Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 3 players limp. Hero raises to 8 BB. Blinds fold, Villain calls 7 BB, fold, CO calls 7 BB. Flop (3 players, 26.5 BB): 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villain bets 8 BB. 1 fold. What did that bet mean? Hmm. Maybe I'll catch, or maybe I'll take the pot away on the turn. Hero calls. Don't try this at home, kids. I can play overcards like this because I can get away from them if I improve but it looks like my pair is no good. Turn (2 players, 42.5 BB): T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Villain bets 63 BB (all-in). Nut flush draw, gutshot broadway draw, two overcards. That's 9 plus ... can I limp with QJ96ss in late position, nah... Where was I? 9 plus 6 plus 4, wait, don't overcount, time is almost up. 5:3 pot odds is how many outs? @#$% it. Hero calls 63 BB. River (2 players, 168.5 BB): 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Results in white: Villain shows Ah 4h. Hero had 42 outs. Hero wins 168.5 BB - rake with AQ unimproved. Villain says, "D'oh!" 6 players make a note on the Hero. |
