Default Playing AK as overcards

.10/.20 hold'em 6max at AP (6-handed)

Table seems very loose/passive so far, CO is new to the table.

I'm dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] on the button. UTG limps, MP folds CO raises, I 3-bet, blinds fold, UTG calls, CO caps, I call, UTG calls.

Flop comes 997 rainbow.
UTG checks, CO bets, I raise, UTG calls, CO 3bets, I call, UTG calls.

Turn 2, completing rainbow.
Checked to me, I bet, UTG calls, CO raises, I call, UTG calls.

River 4
Checked to me, I?

Check! Open fold! Wayyyy too much action given. I wouldn't raise the flop. But since you did I would take my free card on the turn. When CO checkraises the turn you are probably drawing very thin or dead. Thinking about value betting the river here with AK high is insane IMO.

Bet. If raised, three-bet and call a cap.

i hate "new to the table" opponent posts.

i don't raise this flop. if i did and i'm 3-bet,
i don't bet this turn. if i did and i'm raised and i enjoy gamb00l,
i don't bet this river when checked to me.

So basically I drastically overplayed my hand? I did bet the river, UTG folded, I did get checkraised again, and did call. I guess for some reason I saw his c/r on the turn as more of a sign of weakness then of strength.

I guess I was just lucky here because it turned out he was trying really really hard to buy the pot with AQs... I'm sure UTG was displeased to see AQs and AKs turned over after all that betting... he probably had the best hand...

See? Of course I was able to read UTG's hand perfectly. I'm surprised none of the other posters could

Next time three-bet that bitch for value.

You seem to have overplayed your hand.

I think that you should have called the flop bet, getting odds to catch an A or K and hope the action was closed behind you by UTG.

Then I think you should have checked the turn unimproved, while you had the chance to see the river card for free.

If it had still been checked to you on the river by then, I think you should have taken the free showdown, because if you had bet, I would only have expected a better hand than A high to call.
