How do site calculate how much rake you pay?

If i win a pot and the rake is 3 dollars would they credit me with paying 3 dollars in rake or would I be credited with 1/x*3 (x being the number of players dealt in the hand) in rake?

It depends on the site. If you're not sure about a site in particular name it and I bet someone knows the answer.

your equation is correct for calculating MGR regardless if you contributed.
