I've pretty much stopped playing live cardroom poker because all the cardrooms in Seattle allow smoking. I was going to move to Redmond and was looking forward to being able to play at Muckleshoot during the weekends. Now I hear that it's a smoking casino. Anyone confirm?

If you are moving to Redmond, wouldn't Tulalip be where you would want to play on weekends? It's non-smoking.

As for distance, the Tulalip and Muckleshoot casinos are equal distance away. Going to Tulalip you risk the sometimes horrific Everett traffic on northbound I-5 and going the to Muckleshoot you risk the equally horrific merge onto 167 South.

IIRC, there is an initiative on the ballot this November to ban smoking indoors completely...won't affect Muck or Tulalip (since they are on NA turf), but the rest of the card rooms should get significantly less smokey in January.

YAY!!!

I'm sick of coming out of casinos smelling like an ashtray. The poker rooms in California and Vegas are non-smoking and do fine. No reason to think the ones in Seattle would not be just as good.

The only drawback is the people who will leave the table for smoke breaks, but that is a small price to pay for a smoke free environment.

everything mr. curious said.

The dealers are so-so.

If the list starting getting long, the wait can be extremely long because they don't work the brush well.

If the list is short, I've seen on multiple occasions, a game get started the almost immediately break another game.

The floor people just aren't thinking about the games in general.

On the plus side, the food is good, the comps are pretty easy to get, and the room is physically nice..just the way the poker goes kinda sucks.

In terms of types of players they have the typical mix of bad/badder/worse/sometimes Okay players.

There was one $4/8 game and one NL game from 4 PM till 10:00 PM tonight. They finally had enough people at 10 PM to start a second NL game, though it was short handed.

I am excited about the non-smoking initiative too. Everyone always forecasts economic doom and gloom but it never really happens...the smoking initiative has no organized opposition and is likely to pass easily. Hard to see voting against something like this when second hand smoke is a CARCINOGEN. It's just that we've been used to it so long that it stops bothering us.

MAny bars in NYC have taken a big hit.

People in Seattle CAN be so annoyingly uptight (in a phoney PC way) that I think it is good that there is one place, a bar, where those of us who don't give a st*t about everyone elses every move can have a nice and pleasant time in an unhealthy environment. Next thing you know they will ban alcohol as well.

That said, I agree, as a smoker even, that poker is rough when 7 people are smoking at a table and I also like smoke free rooms. Tulalip is good for that reason, and also the fact that all limit red chip games have a $2 rake.
