Default NL Chip Denominations vs. Looseness

I just recently went to Casino Morongo to play in the 40-100NL Hold'em game and was surprised to see them playing with $1 chips. I'm used to $5 chips at this level. The game was pretty loose with weird betting (no relation to pot size).

Despite slowing the game down (a lot), does having a smaller denomination reduce the action?

It seems that the folding point for this particular table was $10-12 while at other card rooms the folding point was about $15.

Since i've been playing live the casino's usually just gave you your buy in in all whites for those tables.

Just recently they switched over to mainly reds with some whites and I have noticed a bit more willingness to call bigger bets.

I think it can be attribuited to "well i'm only throwing in 3 chips" as compared to putting in 15 chips which can make a large dent in a stack.

Or, maybe it's just a tighter card room in general.
