Default Fast or slow play this...?

I felt I had a real good read on this player and put him on AK/AQ preflop. His small bet on the flop made me afraid he had QQ/JJ and I was trying to get more out of him. In retrospect, that seemed kind of pointless as if he improves, I lose.

Anyone think there is an optimal way to play this?

tough hand. I think you played it pretty well. If you lose to qq or jj then so be it. If you lost to trip A;s then i guess the right play would have been a push on the turn, but its tough to do that if your afriad of a higher set at that point. Tough to get away from this 1.

I'd have made a bigger raise on the turn. Your raise is $6 more into a $36 pot. I'd have raised to at lease $25-$30. Then pushed on the river.
