Default I\'m not going to bet my set

Villain hasn't been around very long, but he is noticably aggressive.

please elaborate.
i find "noticably aggressive" opponents will be more likely to bet non-club holding hands than club holding hands on the flop, using the monotone flop as a "scare flop". based on his flop bet i predict he has a jack + no club. or a six + no club. in fact, my gut feeling is that an aggro opponent with a club will be most likely to check raise the flop. (this is all based on feel, nothing empirical)

i bet the turn.

Good.

Call any river. Bet if checked to.

problem is, tilt, we can be blown off the best hand by bb.

edit- also since the board is monotone, we dont care about giving infinite odds.

I think I would bet, unless he has the A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] its going to be hard for him to raise. If you think he is aggressive enough to raise the turn, then I guess a check is good.

If he bets the river are you calling ui?

Ummmmm... Villain has been around for about 25 hands and he seems to be betting in many of the pots that he enters. I have a note that says he has bet-folded the turn and that a couple times it looked like he was trying a pickup bet on the turn after the flop got checked through (which is likely related to the bet-fold). That's about as much as I can say about him.

If you know why I checked it, then you can figure out what the river play is going to be if he bets into me.

so, calling a checkraise and calling a river bet w/o a boat is bad?

fair enough,
is there any value in betting the river if he checks, do you think he will call without a [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]?

You do not think he has a club and you hope to get him to take a stab at it on the river. This is just a guess. Would you raise the river unimproved if he bets out?
