Default Oregon / Portland Casinos?

Hi all,
Newbie to the forums; been playing a lot online and thinking about taking my game to a B&M to see how I fare.

Anyone got anything to say about the La Center, WA casinos (Chips, New Phoenix) or the Oregon Indian casinos (Spirit Mountain and Chinook Winds are the closest to me) or any other B&Ms within a reasonable drive of Portland?

Thanks!

I visited Spirit Mountain this past summer. They have a very nice poker room. Everything from 2/4 to 30/60 limit was spread.

Spirit Mountain is excellent. Haven't visited the others, but I heard there's usually a long wait at La Center due to the fact that they only have 3 TABLES.

Spirit is fine. There's ~ 20 tables (21?) I went for the first time the day after Thanksgiving and the place was packed. There was a tourney at noon I tried to get into but didn't preregister so it was taking up some table space, but it took 1.5 hours to cycle through the waiting list on 4/8 before I could get a seat. They spread 2-4 through 10-20 with a kill as well as some Omaha that day. Players are really fishy. Room makes me feel like a sardine, actually, because it's packed in so tight but that's a small price to pay for swimming with that bunch.

I haven't tried any other P-town Casinos but I'm moving back to Oregon in February so I'm sure I'll get the chance.

New Phoenix Casino in LaCenter (40 min. drive from Portland) - 7 tables total. Several 3-6, several 4-8, and 1 10-20 table. Very smoky and very fishy. You can drink there too! Two hour waits are not uncommon on the weekends and even some weeknights.

Chips in Lacenter - 3 tables total. 3-6 and 4-8. Very smoky, very fishy, and u can drink! Expect long lines on the weekends also.

Spirit Mountain (75 minute drive from Portland) - 18 tables total. Most weekdays will have several tables at each limit starting at 2-4 up to 10-20. A 1-2NL game is also spread almost every day. Weekends (especially tournament weekends) will have bigger limit and NL games spread. You can't drink in the pokerroom but it is non-smoking. Waits are typically less than 30 mintues even on weekends, and the lower stake games are all very beatable, even without people drinking.

I live in Portland also and prefer Spirit. No long waits, no smoke, just a slightly longer drive whish is worth it.

As of today, the LaCenter card rooms are all non-smoking per the November election. (Hooray!!) The Last Frontier (adjunct to the New Phoenix) has 7 tables and excellent action. It's only 20 minutes from Portland instead of 1-1/2 hours to Spirit Mountain. The road to Spirit Mountain is also known for a huge number of traffic fatalities, many of them head-ons. They say it's the deadliest highway in Oregon.
