Connection issues

I'm having some problems with my cable connection (3 mbs down 1 up) Every now and then I seem to lose my connection for like 5-10 seconds, then it goes back to normal. This started happening last week so I thought it was an issue with party but now I see that it happens with all the sites, plus surfing the web I have the same problem. Any idea what the problem is?

Call your cable company and have them test your modem for drop outs and packet loss. I had a toshiba cable modem start doing the same thing and the packet loss was over 25% at times.

Time Warner came out, tested the line ok. Put in a new modem and no issues since.

It should be noted my cable modem was 5+ years old when it started to fail.
