Would anybody make this call? (sunday stars hand)
The BB was away in the hand, so my raise from the CO doesn't mean I have a hand and the reraise could be a pretty large range. There were about 250 people left and 135 pay.

...fold? Doesn't seem that hard of a decision.

Re: Would anybody make this call? (sunday stars hand)
Would a call really have been that bad, is more likely my question?
I really felt like calling. I wasn't close to the money. I wanted a big stack and this could have been a good opportunity to get one since my raise looks suspect so the reraise could be any 2 and my hand is very good against any 2. I don't want the big stack to think I am going to keep folding to his reraises, and If I fold AQ here then it could be very difficult to steal blinds later. |

Re: Would anybody make this call? (sunday stars hand)
So what if the big stack things you fold easy? What happens when you raise with AA KK or QQ? You trap him perfectly. AQo is not ahead of any hands I can think of that big stack would push with. You're either racing or dominated by AK AA KK or QQ.

Re: Would anybody make this call? (sunday stars hand)
Everyone at the table knows when the BB is sitting out, and most all the agressive players are looking at a way to get his blind. I would call or raise alot more preflop so you dont have to make that decision as much.
I would put him on a smaller ace. |

Re: Would anybody make this call? (sunday stars hand)
This is tough, since it does look like you are stealing. This could be any pocket pair, AT and up, and KJ on up. Since the BB wasn't in this hand, the buttons pushes could be even wider. I call this every day baby.

Re: Would anybody make this call? (sunday stars hand)
Oh boy, I would start salivating.
If I was the button I would protect with a lot of hands you kill or are comfortably ahead of. If I were the button I do not do this with AA or KK, so you are really only afraid of AK and QQ. I think the button is holding a dominated hand too often not to call this, especially this far from the $$$. It would be a shame if you crapped out here with 25BB's, but I think this is a good opportunity to turn 25BB in 50BB's. Regards, Woodguy |

Re: Would anybody make this call? (sunday stars hand)
I would fold, but if he tries to pull that crap again I would call. I only make a huge overcall like that if I have a read that the guy is trying to bully me. Absent that read, I will give him credit, at least for a while. It is much more likley that he has a pair or AK than AJ or below. And with 25bb's left, a good player should not be voluntarily taking the bad end of a 45/55.
