Default A2-A9 UTG

Lets assume for a moment we're playing Party's NL50.

You are under the gun with A2o-A9o. What is your action. Do you limp for the .50? Or do you raise, say, to $2? If you are suited, does your action change? This has come up a lot for me and I'm never sure what the correct play here would be.

Thanks in advance.

Full table? Standard fold.

Fold all the way. A9 and A8 offsuit, are playable in LATE position for NO RAISE on a relatively weak-tight table, IMO, the others best off in the muck. Ax Suited is a different kettle of fish, OTOH.

Think of it this way: you'll only win small pots, and never win large ones.

Not worth the money.

In six-max, I'll usually limp suited low aces UTG, with an occasional raise just to mix it up. The offsuit ace-rags are really not worth playing at all.

Fold it offsuit. At a tight table I'll raise the suited ones. At a loose, aggressive one I'll fold, and at a loose passive one, I'll limp.

Edit: This is all 6-max

IMHO, in a full ring game, AT and AJ are default folds UTG or UTG+1.

Here's what I do, which probably means it's not good and too loose.

Full Ring:

A2o-A9o are folds everywhere except in CO or button, in which case I'll steal the blinds.

A2s-ATs I'll limp anywhere if there isn't a really agressive PF player.

ATo is eh UTG/UTG+1. Everywhere else I'll limp or openraise in LP.

AJo/AQo/AJs I limp UTG/UTG+1, raise from MP on.

AKo I raise from anywhere, but sometimes limp early to catch an over agressive player.

AQs/AKs I raise from anywhere.

6 max:

I limp ATo at weak tables UTG, fold it otherwise. I limp AJo, raise AQo and AKo usually, but again will limp to mix it up. From anywhere but UTG or maybe UTG+1 I raise any ATo+ (regardless of limpers).

I actually often end up folding or raise suited aces A2s-A9s UTG because if you limp you end up getting face with a raise from a KJo type hand which you can't play too well against OOP. I'll limp behind any limper though.

AJs I limp UTG, raise everywhere else, AQs/Aks I raise everywhere.
