[/ QUOTE ] how has your W$SD changed compared to 5/10? since the standard deviation is higher at 10/20, (especially if you multitable) do you think a 500BB roll isn't enough anymore? |

Re: 10/20 v 5/10 (semi-whine)
[ QUOTE ]
Can the 10/20 game be so different or am I just pissing and moaning because I am amidst a 10K+ downsing? [/ QUOTE ] I've only dabbled a bit in 10/20, but from the opinions I see expressed here I believe it is a different game. I've never played with you (as far as I know), but from your posting in this forum I get the feeling that your view of the correct play is usually pretty clear (whether you're right or wrong) and the nature of the game and opponents is, if not immaterial to the decision-making process, then only a very minor factor. I could be wrong of course (just going off of limited posts here), but I'd encourage you to watch the games / tables more, and review your sessions pretty closely. If you're applying a winning formula from 5/10 to a game that is sufficiently different to 5/10, the winning forumla can easily be a losing / breakeven forumla. Anyway, good luck on turning it around. |

Re: 10/20 v 5/10 (semi-whine)
500bb is fine if you can move down when you lose a lot of it
my w$sd has gone up because i have been trying to put people on better hand ranges and my WSD has gone down a lot (like 2% each way) |

Re: 10/20 v 5/10 (semi-whine)
Unless it's disposeable income I would be pretty reluctant to play 10/20 on just 500BB's.
The 500BB roll assumes that you have the stomach to handle the 200-250 down-swing when it comes. Well, on a $10k roll I just don't have the stomach to handle a $4k-$5k drop. So whether or not you think a 500BB downswing is possible or not...I argue that many players who have a 500BB roll will probably still be too uncomfortable with the 100BB swings to be able to continue to play the game appropriately. This is more a psychological-bankroll argument of course. But to also answer the question I believe as it was intended. I also think that a 500BB down-swing at 10/20 6-max is not so impossible as to be disregarded completely (meaning that 500BB does NOT have you completely covered). I've had enough 150BB downswings in my limited time that I get the impression that stringing together 3 or 4 of these in a row IS possible. AS usual...it depends on your comfortability for taking risks of course. |

Re: 10/20 v 5/10 (semi-whine)
Hey Wackjob,
Take it from someone who has learned it the hard way(400BB downswing right off the bat) - the tactics you employed at 5/10 will do you little good at 10/20, save vs the few LP donaters at each table. The LAGs will chew you up if you do not adapt to them...they make many mistakes, but you have to learn how to exploit them. Surf |

Sounds like a whine, but, yes the games are much different. You probably aren't compensating enough for the change in game. If you want to PM me your username, I'll look over any hands I have with you to see any mistakes I can find.

Re: 10/20 v 5/10 (semi-whine)
Overall, 10/20 really is a much tougher game than 5/10.
