Default Home Game Shopping Help

Hoping those who have carefully selected their own Home setups can help me with my own, as I seem to be running into constant roadblocks:

I am looking for the following items:

Chips: I need 1000 or so for NL tourneys, probably going with basic diamond for price.

Table supplies: I will be building 2 holdem tables much like those that others on this forum have built and posted (thanks, guys), and am in need of felt/speed cloth to surface them. Also need some sort of rail.

Now, my problem is not that I cannot find these items on the internet etc., but each site I try to purchase from has its own unique problems:

Pokerstore.net- Only Canadian site, and my first choice, but their prices are way out of line, no bulk discount and no table supplies. Sent an e-mail to them asking about bulk discount, they said sure, e-mail us back with the #'s you need, I did and haven't heard from them since.

5stardeal.com- Best prices on chips by far, but no table supplies. Whatever, I decided to get the chips and worry about the tables later. Then I find out they do not accept credit card payment (?) from Canada, I need to snail-mail them a certified check or money order. Bleh, I want to be playing next Sunday, not hoping the mail got there.

Casinoupply.com- Went there after it was mentioned in a thread here, speed cloth and felt- great, $100 minimum order for international orders, not so great. Thought I could just order my chips from them too, but their prices on chips are disgusting.

I find it hard to believe that on the entire Internet there is not a site that wants my money. I am hoping the esteemed readers of this forum can direct me to a site that has all of the things I'm looking for, or even just some of them and will actually ship them to me. Maybe even a fellow Canuck 2+2er can direct me to a site they've used before.

EBay has all of the things that you are looking for but beware, I bought some KEM cards who an amatuer (sp) said were in good shape but ended up being marked and had creases on a couple of cards. A lot of the people who sell things on EBay are not familiar with what they are selling.

All of that drivel being said or rather typed, I have a suggestion for a website assuming that you are only ambivelant about said websites: pokerchest.com They have extensive chip sets with various price ranges, tables, and table toppers. All in all a good website. good luck

I disagree, I bought everything I needed from them, the buttons, cards and chips. I even bought chip racks.

As I mentioned above, the "Table supplies" I was looking for were pretty specific, and 5star doesn't have them.

As an update, I made my order from 5stardeal on Tuesday (1000 diamond chips for tourneys, 500 striped dice/oak case for cash games), and noticed on the site Thursday that they were sold out of several colors of the diamond chips I had ordered.

Since my money order was still enroute (see above), that means it's going to be a long time before I'm playing with those chips.

I waited two weeks for them to get these chips back in stock, they had them for about a week, and due to their Canadian buyers policy, I couldn't get them ordered during that time.

Buyer beware.

Default Canadian Shopping

Hi Redman,
I can't help you with your table(s).
As for chips, I won an ebay auction from 5stardeal for 500 suited W/alum. case for US$110. I sent them numerous(6 or7)emails regarding this purchase and they responded to NONE. I was surprised considering what I had read here about them.
Apparently foreign orders are a p.i.t.a. for them. I wanted extras(cards and a button), Pay-pal payment and non-UPS.
They offer NONE of these for their ebay foreign buyers.

When I gave up on these 3 requests and went to finalize the order, the shipping they tried to charge was more than the international amount quoted in their ebay ad. (from $30 to $40.28) They still wouldn't respond to my inquiries.
It was going to cost me nearly $100 Cdn just to get them here (Edmonton) because of UPS brokerage fee policy where they collect on this end, too. With exchange, shipping, GST(the reason for the brokerage fees) I was looking at $250CDN.

I said screw it(ebay cancelled the transaction when I sent them my info)and checked out The Poker Store (in Ontario). They charge $260 Cdn for the same set(nice alum. case). I got ANDY to throw in a button, tax, shipping, paid with MC(the tx and shipping credits took them a few weeks). The chips were here in a week. And they're perfect. I got 300red, 100green, 50white and 50black. Made in China, btw.

Try mentioning 2+2 if you e-mail Andy

Thanks for your reply. I really wanted to spend that money at pokerstore, and it sure would have been a lot easier. As I mentioned, I sent an e-mail asking about a bulk discount, gave them my quantities and waited for a week with no response. When I e-mailed them again I was told they didn't have stock to fill my order anyway, so I was out of luck.

I've heard nothing but good things about the site, but on the whole my experience was not a good one.

Still waiting for my 5stardeal chips to be back in stock, looks like it will be a minimum of 3-4 weeks from the time I ordered them until they arrive.

Who knew commerce could be so difficult in the Internet age?

Hey buddy,

If you're a fan of ebay, check out the seller ctideals. Best price for canadians and they have chips, cases, tabletops, and trays. u do have to win the auctions of course

if u want a store, checkout www.graystaronline.com based out of calgary. i purchased from them and got an excellent deal $200 CDN for 500 11.5g chips+alum case, including shipping and tax. that was a year ago, might be cheaper now

Has anyone had experience with www.pokerchipmart.com ? Their chip prices appear to beat 5 star.

There's a post here recommending pokersupplies.com and I can vouch for them. I have bought five sets of 300 chips, 11.5 gram diced sets, in metal cases, with Kem cards. These were gifts for my friends. They came right away, the price was right and when there is a delay, he always sends an e-mail explaining what he's doing. I think he's on the cover of Candian Poker Player so you can read about the business. He is also expanding into table felts and other stuff which is good because I want to build a room.
