Default Independent contractor (Iraq)

I am looking into becoming an independent contractor to help in the reconstruction of Iraq. My field of expertise is education. I know that their eduction system is being rebuilt (just like everything else in the country is). My question is how to go about getting started with this. I am currently single and am pretty much free to go wherever I want. I would be willing to commit to this for upto a year. Does anyone know who I should contact about this?? Thanks in advance.

I would suggest starting a gay online escort service. I have heard this will give you direct access straight into the White House. They could put you in charge of the whole Iraq Education program for millions!

Wait til the American army levels Iraq before you rebuild it. You can't rebuild anything when it's currently being torn down.

I had lunch in the past with an agent who was working on recruitment for the telecomms industry for Iraq. The policy they were going for was the main managers to be westeners but that the on the ground type work would be cheap labour coming in form Pakistan an India.

I suspect that unless you have some high level of education strategy work rather than just teacher then there might be work for you but if you want to do teaching in a forign country I reckon that you will find similar paid work in much better enviroments elsewhere.

I also would suggest if your with is to do good you may well be safer going to Africa or some other third world area.

I disagree...a picture is worth a thousand words. If the OP doesn't think that there's a chance that he'll end up like the poor guy in that picture, he clearly hasn't thought this out enough. A few $$$ isn't worth possibly getting beheaded and/or shot over, IMHO.

Oh, and if you want to teach in a foreign country (Iraq or otherwise), be *very* *very* careful about which company you go work for. I had a friend who was scammed by a company in South Korea, and he learned later on that these sorts of scams are commonplace. What happened is that he signed a contract that paid him a pittance but promised a big bonus if he worked the whole contract. The contract was for a year. He worked for 11 1/2 months and then they terminated him without cause or explanation. He was a dolt for not seeing this coming, but he was doing it for the experience mostly, and ended up finding work fairly quickly back in the west when he came home, so it wasn't a total loss.
