Default Interesting comment on my play by a solid player

My regular Bay 101 20/40. The details of the hand matter less than the comment by a prop. I hold 68s in the bb and get a free play in an eight way pot. Flop comes 579 r. I flop the nuts and bet. Loose player UTG shoots me a look just calls, as do 4 others including a solid prop on the button. UTG has been rushing and taken the "any two while I'm rushing" attitude. I expect him to bet the turn and go for the CR. Turn is checked through, Doh. I bet the river and get called by two players including the button. UTG questions my turn check and I tell him I thought he would bet the turn. The button then says "He (meaning me) is most dangerous when he checks. It doesn't mean anything when he bets." I have played many many hours with this prop and we both know each others game well. What does this comment indicate about my game?

Hi Hank,

Regardless of what he meant, do not let it affect your play emotionally. If he's really good, then part of his comment may have been to induce you to tilt. Good luck.

if you play with this guy often then you should be peeling on the flop nearly always against him.

Were I you, I wouldn't have responded to UTG's question with anything other than a smile and/or a wink. Were I the prop, I would have kept my mouth shut too.

I wouldnt worry about it one bit... unless he shows a set or bottem straight or something. In that case you need to worry.

I don't usually talk about strategy but I had been joking around with UTG and wanted to keep him fat and happy, thinking he is playing good.

Was this, perchance, "Jerry"? (I think I have the name right. White guy, gray beard, 50s, sunglasses.) The last couple of times I played the 20/40 at Bay 101 he was playing against me. I'll agree with your general assessment of "solid." If he said this, yeah, I think you should maybe start mixing things up a bit against him. But are the rest of your opponents bright enough to pick up on his comment?

its hard to determine if you have a leak that the prop identified without scrutizing your game. if you respect the prop's play, then he may very well be right here. either way, you have some great information to use against the prop in the future.

on another note, i like your line in this hand. when you said that UTG shot you a glance, i thought you were going to go for a turn checkraise and i think that makes good sense.
