Re: \"Official\" ESPN Coverage of WSOP Main Event: 10/18
I like the way ToP put it, there are only 3 actions every time you get your hand.
Raising, Calling, and Folding A bet is simple a raise when the current bet is 0. A check is simple a call when the current bet is 0. |

Re: \"Official\" ESPN Coverage of WSOP Main Event: 10/18
It's a reasonable lay-down of course and it kinda tough to make.
But the guy was suddenly a chatter-box and was practically leaping out of his seat. And then he's all gung-ho about his $10k bet. His mannerisms were nothing short of ridiculous. The more and more he was saying stuff like "it'll cost you $10k to find out" when Phil asked if he had QQ the more it became obvious to Phil that this guy likely had the good. Remember, when that Q came on the turn (they had both checked the flop) to make the board ATTQ Phil was now behind a wider range of hands including KJ, AQ, and any T. What hands would that guy be betting $10k with that phil could actually beat? Another AK maybe?? KK or AJ?? (not so likely with a $10k bet). It's a good laydown...but the combination of that guy's horrid tells AND the very dangerous board certainly don't qualify Phil's laydown as the end-all-be-all. Hell, I doubt it's even one of Phil's own personal best laydowns. |

Re: \"Official\" ESPN Coverage of WSOP Main Event: 10/18
I thought the board was A44-Q
Regardless, it was quite the stellar laydown despite AA's terrible betting. Hellmuth goes broke vs. a competent player, imho. |

If you're at a game and say "I BET....zero", you're probably going to be required to make the minimum BET because you stated BET. |

[ QUOTE ] He has pretty much the nuts and he bets it so strong...what do you expect Phil is going to do? Reraise? [/ QUOTE ] Mike Sexton impression? How do you "reraise" a bet? You can only reraise a raise I thought. [/ QUOTE ] I should have said raise then. Thanks for correcting me. I appreciate it. |

The Q on the turn really made this laydown much easier. Not "easy", but "easier". [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]BDH[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |
