i see even mediocre and better players constantly cold calling with crap like QJ, KT, etc.

Yeah, but more often (in the 20 games, anyway) they limp with that stuff, which is why I like to raise limpers with KQ. If I raise UTG with KQ, and they cold-call behind me when they're dominated, that's good, but I still don't like playing it out of position.

I agree. And I would have folded the turn after the checkraise.

Too much chance of drawing dead.

Oh come on. This hand is horrible. If you're going to fold the river to a check raise, just fold the turn or check through the river. I fold to the flop check raise, barring some history. With no reads I call the river raise. You guys are crazy.

Yes. Yes we do. There's nothing else worth doing at a live poker table than playing your own cards. But hey, we nits are generally pretty boring people anyway....

I don't know how you get check raised 3 times in this hand. Also maybe its just me but I'll fold KQos UTG. You already got check raised twice dosent that scare you?

Thoughts?

While I agree with checking the turn, I am not sure if I agree that you are drawing dead here more often than not. This is very situational and player dependent.

Do you think the turn CR clarifies your relative standing in the hand and makes drawing out (to the nut flush) essentially pointless? If that's the case, what is you river plan if you checked the turn and made your flush?

A) And your opponent bets into you on the river, you are just calling? raising? folding?

B) Or your opponent checks to you on the river, you are betting? checking?

Maybe this has been brought up already and I just missed it, but since he's been Check Raising you why not just check the river? If you would fold to another CR, why not just check?

I'm really surprised people are saying to not raise KQ UTG in an 8 handed game

I'm pretty surprised people are saying to fold to the flop check raise. folding with the 2nd nut backdoor flush draw, a good backdoor straight draw, a couple of only semi-tainted overs is a good way to get owned over and over. it may be slightly wrong, but in general good things happen when you peel.

I like the turn bet, though I seem to be alone there. I really wouldn't expect to get check raised here. at worst (guess not), you get called by a better hand, but you have 2 overs and the nut frush draw with a broadway draw. that's a lot of outs. the check also appears to be genuine. the Ad is a big scare card here for him if he has a J. I think he'll fold often enough to make up for the $ you lose by getting called with (guess not) lots of outs

and I like the river fold. the guy clearly has A8 or 88. he's not check raising witht he second nut flush, and he's not checking raising with trips. he's either check raising with the nut flush (which you have) or a boat. otherwise why would he check-raise? it doesn't make sense. he just check raised twice. not a chance

so (surprise) I like how you played it

PS- you got pwned
