AKs butchered on the flop (600NL 6-max)
I have AKspades UTG and make it 24 to go. Villain is button and makes it 30 on top, I call. He is pretty solid, somewhere between a good TAG and a good semi-LAG. I have 850 he covers.
Flop: 10 J Q all diamonds I check he bets 75 I make it 225, he calls. Turn: low blank I bet out 500 (basically all in). How bad did I play it? |

either fold or push the flop.
id push. His likely holding is QQ+ here w/ KdKx AdAx. |

Re: AKs butchered on the flop (600NL 6-max)
when you check raised the flop, he's got position and needs to put 150 into a 400 pot. if he's got AdAx or a set, he's feeling priced in (or think's he's in the lead) and if he's got the flush already, he's sure he'll stack you.
with that board, half the deck is a turn scare card. i dont hate calling the flop, calling the turn and betting a blank river. if you're going to take the intiative on the flop, lead out instead of making a small check raise. if you really want to check raise, the turn is a much better place to do it since he'll likely have a very live hand on the flop if he stays around and short of pushing, it's hard to make him make a big mathematical error on teh flop. |

I was worried about that but I thought a mid to large PP more likely. Anyway, he folded to the 500 raise on the turn.

I would lead/3-bet the flop. If he calls the flop, just lead again on the turn. You can't give him a chance to check behind here.
