Default When is Washington going to get real and cut medicare?

Its going to happen in the next 10-15 yrs so why not do it now? Its either cut medicare or cut social security. I personally believe it would be more detrimental to cut social security than medicare.

Medicare SC (% of budget)
2005 13% 21%
2010 17% 21%
2015 20% 23%

It is impossible to remain a strong country when half (and then more) the money is spent on the people that produce the least. As bad as that sounds its truth.

I think the plan is to wait until you get old and infirm and require some very expensive medication, then they will cut it. So if you really want it eliminated, I suggest you hurry up and come down with something.

March 23, 2005 – The Medicare Trustees Report was issued today and shows that the financial condition of Medicare's hospital fund has improved slightly and the report also highlights the importance of using the new Medicare law to help reduce the spending growth in other parts of Medicare. The Medicare program is the second-largest social insurance program in the United States, with 42 million beneficiaries, primarily senior citizens 65 and older, and total expenditures of $309 billion in 2004 but the report says it will be insolvent by 2020.

When the majority of the people don't support it.

What are these numbers you put up? I don't get it.

the numbers are the % of the total us govt budget for each program, so in 10 yrs half of the money you pay in taxes will go to those 2 programs alone.

Sounds good. Spending money on American citizens, taking care of the old and sick, as opposed to spending money building roads in Iraq.

Yes, they should spend it on poker players. They are a deserving minority.
