How is Party wrong? They have their terms and conditions, they stick by them.

If you're signing up for a 1k buy-in tourney, make sure it's the right one.

would have been my main site if rakeback was possible.. stars charges max rake of 3$ with no rakeback for 6-max 10/20 games and at other sites you can pay 2$ max/pot AND get rakeback.. they fix this and ill be there at once! GL in all your WSOP events!

I do not think party is in the wrong here at all.
Although the general point that party's C/S is typically vague and/or sucky is one we already knew.

But I do think Stars is to be commended for going above and beyond what they needed to do.
On top of that....this was a response from Lee himself who said he read about the situation on 2+2.
You don't get that kind of service from an upper-level representative at party...and you certainly wouldn't get them to say, "Yes...I already knew about your situation because I keep on things." Mostly you are left with the all-too-accurate impression from Party that they have no clue what you are talking about and can't for the life of them figure out what's going on much of the time.

Stars did NOT have to do this and I really didn't think he had much of a shot since their rules are pretty clear on this.

I have been advocating Stars for awhile now even though I have nothing to do with them except that I play there a lot.
Their C/S truly is top-notch, the vig on their tournaments is much better than party's...and for the WSOP qualifiers you actually get an overlay because the hotel-room cost is NOT taken out of the total prize-pool. Whereas at Party it IS taken out of the total prize-pool and appears to be a slightly exaggerated cost at that.
Terrible.

As I have already stated, the general dissimination of info from Stars regarding my WSOP package has been nothing but prompt and clear. The info I was getting from Party when I won the PPM seat was vague and slow (sometimes waiting up to 1 week for a response...and this is their own tournament for crying out loud).

When it comes to packages like this and customer service Party is really missing the boat because it is obvious that it's not THAT hard to prioritize the customer as much as possible as Stars seems to do.

Well done Lee. i am very impressed (yet again).

I had already decided that I would be playing the

There is a happy ending to my story thanks to Pokerstars. Here is Lee Jones' letter:

Hi XXX

It's unfortunate you got into that situation. After all, our rules on this
are quite clear:

http://www.pokerstars.com/2005wsop/tandc.html

http://www.pokerstars.com/2005wsop/faq.html

In particular, item #10 in the terms and conditions:

------
The first package (entry fee plus travel expenses and/or hotel
accommodations) to the events that you win, whether through cash satellite,
FPP satellite, or in any other way, is non-transferable and non-
exchangeable. If you win, you must play or forfeit the package. If you win
additional satellites, you will be credited 10,000 W$ and $1,000 in cash.
------

I also read your comments on 2+2. Frankly, I'm disappointed that you
weren't able to get a straight answer from Party's support. At least
you're getting a straight answer here.

Because of your long and loyal history with us, we're going to make an
extremely unusual exception for you. We will let you apply $10,000 credit
to any of the earlier WSOP events THAT ARE TELEVISED. If you go to our
client main lobby, and select Events -> WSOP -> Qualifiers, you'll see a
list of all the events that are televised. The ones that we can get you
into start with #9 on June 10th, then #11, 13, 22, 23, 27, 28, 33, and 35.

Please let us know immediately which combination of those (or even just
event #35 by itself) you wish to play. Of course, we will expect you to
wear PokerStars gear during whatever preliminary events you play.

And one other thing: I expect you to spread the word about the difference
in response between PokerStars and Party support. We're not the biggest
online poker site in the world, but I'll take our customer support
operation against *anybody* else's in the world, and lay the points.

Best regards,
Lee Jones

Stars is such a class act its too bad they aren't the top site.

Funny about not being able to get a straight answer from Party, I've actually never been able to get any answer at all when I've emailed them. Not once.

Stars, I'm not sure its ever taken more than 30 minutes to get a reply. And its not just fast service, its a willingness to look at situations and think about making adjustments. Just a class act all around.

I can see 1 but the answers seem to be pretty much the same with the exception of a few uses of words like idiot, fool, loser, etc. Still would like to know what you hoped to accomplish by posting it here, nobody but Party or Stars can really help you.

Pwned by PokerStars.

No surprise. I have been playing on line for about 1 1/2 years and tried a half dozen sites. PokerStars has always provided any help requested, promptly, and accurately. It's not just Lee Jones. Anybody on their support staff will go the extra mile if the request is a reasonable one. And as noted here, sometimes even if it isn't. They do have, IMHO, the best software and the best support on the net.

Kudos to PokerStars

Also I'd like to point out that it is Partys fault as they should not have the steps interchangeable, meaning if you are playing in one series you should not be able to buy into the other series, then this would not be a problem.

Very kind of you to say so, thank you. However, as somebody else pointed out, making customer service our #1 priority is a cultural thing for all of us at PokerStars. I'm just the guy that gets to take the credit sometimes.
