Default New Poll Numbers

This morning's Ipsos/AP poll numbers have Bush's approval rating at 39%, an all-time low. Even more striking, a higher percentage of Americans (40%) strongly disapprove of his performance then those who even slightly approve.

65% of Americans believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, compared to 52% a year ago.

This administration is in trouble.

It's Nagin's fault.

p.s. Just wait if Fitzgerald is able to get indictments in October or if the 'other' Abu Ghraib photos are released. Even some of the dittoheads will jump ship then.

My guess is this is the worst it can get as the 39% who still approve are hard core supporters and won't change no matter what he does.

He will have trouble passing legislation when half his party realizes they are up for re-election in 2006.

He will have trouble passing legislation his own party writes because they're worried about re-election? Guess the GOP will stop writing bills because Bush will have trouble signing them...???

[/ QUOTE ]Uh, this is politics 101. It is now politically beneficial to oppose Bush for many Republicans, like Senator Santorum whose staff recently scoured the earth looking for comments Santorum made criticizing Bush. If just 6 Republican Senators oppose Bush on a piece of legislation, there is almost zero chance they will be "persuaded" to vote the party line. With the girls from Maine, Dewine in Ohio up for a hard reelection battle, Santorum now fleeing Bush in Penn (another tough reelection battle) and now Missouri showing up as a tie for '06, it doesn't take much to shut Bush down now.

I almost feel sorry for Bush. He's kind of likeable in some ways because he seems like that loveable, goofy, drunken idiot you knew in college who was always high on coke. But, when you install a new terrorist regime in Iraq and act like an elitist, racist fool while black Americans are shown on TV begging for food and water behind a chain-link fence like they are in prison, you can't expect your poll numbers to be very high.

It really sucks to have a president this weak when we are still dealing with terrorist threats abroad.

Default Shocking numbers

39% of the population is still deaf and blind to reality.

Bush administration should be proud that it can continue to dupe so many dupes. This ability is its only successful accomplishment in the past 5+ years.
