Sloppy Joes
Trying this out tonight.
Brown some ground beef. Add some chopped onions and tomatoes. Cook it up. Add a sauce of ketchup, bbq sauce, vinegar, soy sauce, horseradish, hot sweet mustard, tabasco, chili powder, and garlic powder. Simmering now. Smells great. |

Re: Sloppy Joes
Man, I haven't had sloppy joe's since I was a kid. Your recipe actually sounds pretty good. Though, I wouldn't have added soy sauce or horseradish.

I recommend having some bacon to whet your appetite.

Re: Sloppy Joes
Sloppy Joes are one of those foods that can be amazing if done right, but terrible if done wrong. Your recipe sounds quite good.

Re: Sloppy Joes
Interesting combination of sauces. I would not have thought of using tabasco.

Re: Sloppy Joes
I generally don't like ketchup... not enough body, too much sugar (and there's already some sweet ingredients in your recipe). I might try tomato sauce (or puree) with a bit of tomato paste.

[/ QUOTE ] agreed. they've had a bad rep in my mind ever since the Billy Madison Era, but I actually had one freshman year in college and was quite pleased (even from a dining hall). |

That's the thing. The ones I've had have been sickeningly sweet.

[/ QUOTE ] This is very good advice. Ditch the soy, too. Replace with Worchestershire. Horseradish is an excellent call. |
