are you joking?

No, but then again I've never heard of any of the other brands in this thread and my grocery store only has crap.

If you're talking about getting rarer coffees delivered etc. then the answer changes of course.

The best coffee in the world is Jamaica Blue Mountain.

How can your authority in the last sentence be in any way trusted given the first sentence?

The best coffee you'll ever have is the coffee you roast yourself.

www.sweetmarias.com

Barring that, find a local roaster & make sure whatever you buy was roasted as recently as possible. There are noticable changes to taste within just a few days, and very noticable changes after a week. The changes might or might not be bad, but it all depends on the beans.

As for a coffee pot, it will make a difference. The water should be around 200 degrees while brewing. And don't grind the beans until you're ready to brew.

I've ordered Jamaica Blue Mountain from the internet twice. One time it was the best coffee I've ever had (must try the kopi luwak). The other time it was extremely dried up already.

I would try to find a local shop that roasts their own beans on-site and go with what you like. If you prefer a roast towards the darker side, I like the Ethiopia Harrar.

semi off topic-

i have a 'one cup at a time' coffee maker. you never have to change the filer etc. its cheap and practical. however, does the quality of the instrument making the coffee alter the taste of the bean? if so, i will upgrade.

[/ QUOTE ]

You should upgrade to something that produces a crema. I have a Capresso - which grinds, tamps, and brews at the press of a button. Big bucks, but worth it.

Wish I wasnt such a cheap bastard, but $1,000 seems crazy to me for an espresso machine.
How hard is the machine to maintain, do you have to clean it every time you make a cup?.... every day/week?

I should probably just buy the damn thing... the tables have been very good to me the last 3 months
