Default Calling on the river with A-high

Villain is aggro, but not a total idiot. The river bet is just too big to be spades (not to mention I have the A, so he'd be drawing at a non-nut flush) and I can't imagine he'd check the turn if he wasn't drawing. Therefore, I think he has JT and I call.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Hero ($195.8)
BB ($214.4)
UTG ($55.13)
MP ($212.4)
Button ($259.12)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $1.
2 folds, Button calls $2, Hero (poster) raises to $7, 1 fold, Button calls $6.

Flop: ($18) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $15, Button calls $15.

Turn: ($48) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

River: ($48) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $50, Hero calls $50.

Final Pot: $148

Unless his turn check was to induce a bluff call

So now we've gone from calling with middle set to calling with middle pair to calling with ace high. I like all the calls. Well, I made one of them. But I like your two, also. And this hand shows why he should raise the flop.

33 bets the turn hoping you were trying to c/r.

I definately support people who play with their instincts. therefore, if your instincts told you that AK was good, then nice hand.

Well, it was JTo this time (as I suspected). My opponent went into super monkey tilt and burned through 3 buyins after the hand (unfortunately, none to me); I thought my chat box would explode from the obscenities.

you obviously play much higher limits than my $25, but is a suited 910 or 89 trying to pick off a bluff on a paired board very unlikely here? I feel that at the 25 tables many players will call a flop bet on that unpaired card. Of course the bet on the river doesn't fit this hand, as he'd most likely check or bet smaller, but is a pair of 9s very unlikey (at a 25 or 50 table) based only on the flop and turn action?
