I hit my ticket on the "field" at 2-1 in pool 1 of the future wagering. Big deal...$50 to win on the field gets me a $100 profit, but I bet $60 or so in gimmick bets with Bellamy Road...whopping profit of $40 for this race...

If you buy every possible $2 superfecta in a 20-horse field, it should cost:

$2 * 20 * 19 * 18 * 17 = $100k, give or take a few thou.

So it seems to me, if you have a crapload of money, this isn't a horrible bet... if a long longshot wins once in 15 years, you break even-ish. The only time you lose is when the favorites all come through?

Am I missing something or do others agree with this analysis?

BTW, I got raped this year's derby. WTF is this 50:1 longshot [censored].

My friends and I went in 7 ways on the tri-box. We each picked a horse.

I had bet Giacomo back in February, he floundered in all his prep races.

So ... the horse I decided to put in at the last minute, instead of Giacomo was #14 Wilco.

If I would have put ol' #10 down instead of 14, the group cashes a 70k ticket.

It was very hard to cheer when I found out I hit for $570 (especially since I only got 28 - 1 on future book).

That is one reason my name is Brown Thumb.
