NBA 1/21
YTD (posted) 13-7.
Sorry not much time for extended explanations. 1. Washington -3 (Toronto): Washington is being undervalued because of the loss of Larry Hughes and the blowouts in Texas. But don't overlook (1) Juan Dixon is not a bad substitute and (2) Washington played a great 2nd half against Dallas, narrowing a 37 point game to 11 and actually putting a scare into Dallas. I think Washington is still a pretty good bet at home against mediocre opponents like Toronto. This spread should be 7. 2. Nets pk (Boston): I take the home team with the solid defense over the road team with the crappy defense. The Nets have not folded without R. Jefferson and Boston still does not impress. 3. Chicago -8 1/2 (Atlanta): Atlanta stinks. 4. Phoenix +2 (San Antonio): Phoenix with Nash back at home? Give me the points every time. 5. Golden State + 3 1/2 (at Lakers) GS is a different team with Jason Richardson. They had a real nice run against some pretty good teams before he got hurt. When he came back, he posted 42. Meanwhile I'm not sold in the Lakers without Kobe, even though they are 3-1 and beat Minnesota last time out. GS seems to match up well with the Lakers' small lineup and should not be hurt by having C. Robinson/Foyle at center, unless Chris Mihm has a big game, but he doesn't play late as the Lakers go small. I think GS might win this one outright. |

Re: NBA 1/21
I like the Bulls pick as they seem to do very well including against the spread at home and especially against sub-500 teams.

Re: NBA 1/21
I went an impressive 0-3 yesterday so I obviously know what I know next to nothing.
I have: ATL +8.5 DET -4 WAS -4 SEA -5.5 MEM -4 PHX +2 The Hawks DO stink. But i think 8.5 points is too much to be giving the Bulls. I'm with ya on WAS. SEA vs. MIN - MIN is still really inconsistent. They almost seem to be in panic mode as they have slipped to .500. Thinking SEA can run them into the ground a bit. DET v. MIL - I'm not a big believer in DET but I do think they can beat MIL by 4. MEM v. DEN - Grizzlies are the hottest team in the NBA. 10 of 11...and 17-7 since Fratello took over (when they were 5-11). 7th place in the Western Conf. None of this means they will win at DEN... I just like spewing out these numbers because I'm a Grizzlies fan. They looked terrific at Phoenix the other night btw. I don't care that PHX didn't have Nash. The Grizz are playing better and better and Fratello-Ball is working. DEN is still so-so. PHX +2 - At home I have to go with an angry Suns team, getting Nash back, desperately looking to bounce back. Should be a very good game. |

[ QUOTE ]
4. Phoenix +2 [/ QUOTE ] Good luck with this pick - I took it for a real small bet and then learned that Phoenix went 3-for-1 on a trade today which leaves them a bit thin on the bench. |

Re: NBA 1/21
God I hate when crap like that happens. At least they didn't give up any integral pieces. With the short bench coupled with the losing streak, quality of opponent, and revenge factor, maybe Nash will play 40 minutes.
