Default bad books for xmas

so here's the scoop - your family knows you have a new found love for poker. they think a really nice gift would be a poker book. so they go out and get you Poker for Dummies, Winning Methods of Bluffing & Betting in Poker by Lynne Taetzsch, and Winning Poker For The Serious Player by Edwin Silberstang. how do you react to such thoughtful gifts?

Thank them very nicely, tell them you already have a copy (try not to gag at this point), and ask where they bought it and if they kept the receipt so you can exchange it for something you don't have.

Or ask them if they want to read it and join you in your next home game.

A thank you + a hug/handshake and a quick question as to where they got it. Then a discreet return for a gift card or 2+2 pub...and it's not even close.

Hmmm... Poker for Dummies might work as a decoy if you take it to a B&M game and consult it on every other hand. Your skill and cunning could be seen as dumb luck when you rake in those pots.

Just tell them that you've read reviews for the books and was informed that there are better books out there, ask for the receipt, and return/exchange them. Nothing wrong with being honest here.

Barnes and Noble and Borders will give you store credit without a receipt...just say you got the books there.
