Re: What to do with the number one pick
Looks like first pick's already up. Could be the greatest prep-to-pro defensive lineman since Eric Swann. Solid.

Re: What to do with the number one pick
[ QUOTE ]
This is just comical. People don't realize that in many leagues, Culpepper had a better fantasy year last year than Manning. Sure, Daunte will drop a little bit this year, but it stands to reason that Manning will too, as it'll be dang near impossible to repeat last years stats. [/ QUOTE ] Culpepper will put up numbers akin to Brady, McNabb, et al this year. Peyton is less likely to fall back to the pack. That's the big issue, even if you are correct otherwise in saying that people do not realize how good Daunte's 2004 was. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I wouldn't take LT until at least 9th. [/ QUOTE ] Can I join your league? Do you play for money? [/ QUOTE ] Here's a hint...I draft 9th in his league. [/ QUOTE ] You should have told me that, I could have told him to let LT drop. |

People don't realize that in many leagues, Culpepper had a better fantasy year last year than Manning. [/ QUOTE ] 1. Define "Many" 2. Provide any "normal" scoring system that had Culpepper with a better fantasy season than Manning. Thanks |

Re: What to do with the number one pick
[ QUOTE ]
not a complete no brainer for me...at least i think there are several options. i think SD was a bit of a fluke last year...and don't think they will be as good this year...which means LT probably won't have the career year he had in 04-05. [/ QUOTE ] Career year? He was better in 02-03 and his best year was easily 03-04 02-03: 2172 yards, 15 TDs, 3 fumbles, 1 lost 03-04: 2370 yards, 17 TDs, 2 fumbles, 0 lost 04-05 (15 games): 1776 yards, 18 TDs, 6 fumbles, 2 lost So you're way off with this "career year" stuff. #1 pick, and it's not close |

Re: What to do with the number one pick
The pass interference rules have really helped these quarterbacks. They still had huge years.
Has the NFL mentioned any changes to how they will call pass interference? I wonder how much of a drop off these quarterbacks would have if the NFL reverted back to the old pass interference rules. Okay, I know the rule is the same.... I mean how strict the refs are going to call PI. DD |

[ QUOTE ] People don't realize that in many leagues, Culpepper had a better fantasy year last year than Manning. [/ QUOTE ] 1. Define "Many" 2. Provide any "normal" scoring system that had Culpepper with a better fantasy season than Manning. Thanks [/ QUOTE ] Culpepper had 160 more passing yards. Culpepper had 3 more turnovers. Culpepper had 368 more rushing yards. Culpepper had 2 more rushing TDs. Culpepper had 10 fewer passing TDs. If 10 RuYds = 1 pt and 1 PaTD = 4 points, then Cul. is +36.8 pts (RushYds) and -40 pts (PassTD). So, that's 3.2 fewer points. Throw in the 2 more RushTD (12 points in every league I've ever seen), and he's up 8.8 points. 160 passing yards is probably 4 - 6 points depending on the league, so I'll say it's 5. Culpepper is now up 13.8 points. Take away 3 or 6 points for the turnovers, and Culpepper still was better. Not a ton, no. But this Peyton-loving is somewhat overrated. If passing TDs are worth 4 points, Peyton had no edge (and in fact was worse) over Culpepper. Josh |
