Go back to him and ask for stories of his conquests -- sounds like they're probably a lot more interesting than anything that's happened to you. FWIW (to everyone in general)...old people don't suck. SOME old people suck just like some younger people suck. My grandpa is a cool mo'fucka. Took him 'til he was 21 to graduate HS because he had to take off each fall and spring to run the family farm that fed his mom, dad, and four siblings...fought in WWII, came home, worked his ass off, married my grandmother, raised a family, stayed in the reserves, invested wisely, made tons of dough, is the patriarch of the family, and above all...tells great stories!!!!!! He's lived life and has lots of wisdom. Sure, some of his wisdom is seen on the surface to be out-of-date...but dig a little deeper and there's something there to learn. More often, his stories are hilarious and make me have no doubt that his was truly "The Greatest Generation." If you've got a grandparent or older relative like that and you do not soak up their experience, then you have no excuses for the dumbassed mistakes you'll make in your life. Now, as for the OP -- quite right. You act like a bitch in my home toward my wife and kids and friends...EVENTUALLY, I'm gonna kick you to the curb, too...no matter what age, gender, race, or sexual orientation you happen to be. Nicely played and a good read. |

Doc,
I really think your grandfather is way more awesome than you give him credit for, you should not have shut that convo down. OP, You should have seen this coming. Clearly grandma was an awful choice and is just an evening ruiner in general. However once she arrives I don't see any better way to play it all out. Well done. Perrier |

I think this was nearly perfectly played. congrats. as the host, you have a responsibility to maintain a respectful atmosphere (or some [censored] like that).
I will say that it doesn't hurt to consider the fact that most old ladies are miserable and unhealthy, and they take it out on other people by being rude. I mean they're human. not saying that's the case here or that it excuses her actions, but maybe if you had fewer beers you could've found a nicer way to kick her out. POTW, dare I say?? |

"Get the hell out of my house you ungrateful, rude old bat. We have you over to our house and all you do is insult us and our friends. Here's your stuff, there's the door. Out." [/ QUOTE ] Is there a way I can frame that? It ought to be immortalized, somehow. |

Re: So I Kicked an Old Lady to the Curb Tonite (long)
Good stuff here. After reading this post, added to teh fact that I went to dinner with my grandparents tonight, I have a question. Has anyone noticed the propensity for old ladies to be rude, overbearing pains in the ass, while old guys are cool, funny, and interesting? I dont know if its sample size, but my grandpa is a war hero, double masters in phramacolgy and chemistry, has more stories than jesus christ, very witty etc. While my grandma does nothing but things similar to the old lady above. And I dont believe that its just my grandparents, it seems that most old folks I meet are this way. Weird drunk observation I guess.
