Re: Routine play or huge suck out?
In this case, MP was a woman who was playing in her second HE game ever. She'd call with anything preflop for one bet but fold about half of her hands if it was raised (even if she had previously limped). She'd call with any piece of the flop, fold with nothing, and only bet with a 'strong' hand.
The EP player who called on the flop hadn't checkraised or slowplayed all night -- he'd bet out flopped trips or an improved hand on the turn, so I wasn't that concerned that he was going to raise behind me on the turn. I couldn't "read" them well enough to put them on a hand, but I thought I had a line on their general betting habits. Is that even possible at these limits? PP |

Re: Routine play or huge suck out?
Not only was your read good, you were getting more than sufficient odds to draw to one of the aces or threes. You picked up the flush draw and the turn, so you now have even more outs. She should not have even been in the hand to begin with and should not have bet the river.

Re: Routine play or huge suck out?
You're probably right but you're not 100% certain there is a 10 out there. On top of that 2nd pair with a back door nut flush draw is worth something. I would like to have come out betting. Heck miss 106o may fold out at some point figuring you got her. Probably not but maybe.
The reason I think you should raise Axs with all of those limpers in the pot is if your flush hits you have them tied to the pot and they will pay you off. I can't imagine, especially with a family pot limping to me, that you would have to hit that flush all that many times for that to be right. The games I play in are a lot like what Kong described in his quiz. A lot of players playing garbage and holding on to it too long. I'm working on some different strategy in my blinds rather than the usual just check/call and hope. |

Re: Routine play or huge suck out?
The types of reads you have is probably about as good as they get at this level. things like "will never bet middle pair" and stuff like that is about as good as you'll get. Placing them on actual hands is an exercise in futility.
I was just amused with the 2 comments in succession. |

Re: Routine play or huge suck out?
I was roundly criticized at the table for my "huge suckout". The guy on my right said he thought I was a better player than that.
He read could not be farther from the truth, well played. Peace, Joe Tall |

Re: Routine play or huge suck out?
I know there really is no point. That thought was more in response to the guy whinning about it....tell him...yeah I was gonna raise the turn...... I hate whinners

Re: Routine play or huge suck out? - chirping?
Is chirping the sound a fish makes? |

Re: Routine play or huge suck out? - chirping?
I guess not. usually the railbirds are the chirpers. I felt like the comments deserved a chirp, even if they came from players.
