Here's my beef with Party. They have bottom of the line software. Tournaments, they give you [censored] for starting chips, you have no way to check your position in the tournament unless you count. They line their pockets with over 1 million per day, and do nothing to put anything back into their site for the players that actually got them to be number 1. Just keep lining the pockets. Now this every week.

It's worse than you think.
They just took all rake-back money out of the poker community.

The number of starting chips is only meaningful when it is considered along with the rest of the tournament's structure. Compare Party's small buyin tourney's the same at Stars. Stars gives you 1500 chips, Party gives you 1000, but the blind's/ante's are faster at Stars such that the tourney's are actually very similar in terms of how fast their structure is. You can find the numbers Burningyen's post comparing tourney structures (first link of the Anthology thread).

Next compare Party's small buy-in tourney's to the small buy-in guaranteed tourney's at Empire. The have the exact same number of starting chips, and the exact same blind levels. The only difference is Empires has 20 minute blinds while Party has 15 minute blinds. Empire's structure is a lot slower than Party's despite having the same "small" number of starting chips.
