Default Re: Resolution Question...

I 'think' 32MB is enough video memory to run 2 displays at 1280x1024, but I'm not certain. Increasing your computer's main memory, while always a good thing to do, will have no affect on what you're trying to do. And on 95% of all video cards, the video memory is not upgradeable.

Things to do:

1)-Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card

2)-Check you monitor manufacturer's website to see if they have a specific driver/monitor information file that Windows can use to ensure you'll get access to all of your monitor's supported resolutions. If Windows just sees your monitor(s) as 'Default Plug-and-Play Monitor', your video card may not know all of the resolutions your particular monitor(s) can display.

and here is the big one...

3)-Lower your color depth. If your color quality is set to 32-bit/highest, drop it down to 16-bit, or even 256-colors. If it works at a lower color-depth setting (and I'm guessing that this will do it for you), it means that 32MB of video memory isn't enough. However, if you can live with the lower setting (16-bit isn't bad at all, 256-color mode is ugly), you don't have to upgrade anything.

Good luck.
