Default yet another \"what is the foxwoods act III like\" thread

in my 12 hour gambling session at foxwoods today i won an act I and then about 4 hours later an act II...the act I turned out to be a lot tighter than the act II but the play was pretty bad regardless...so now that ive chosen sunday as my day to play my act III....what can people tell me about the quality of play, number of players, etc?

Because of how easy it is to get into the NEPC Act III as opposed to the WPF Act III, they may play easier than before, but they're still tougher than most tournies at FW.

The one I played in a couple of weeks ago seemed manageable, at least until I got flushed by a dominated hand.

Back last fall, I had Paul Darden on my immediate left in an Act III, so that's one example of how tough the competition can be.

You'll be up against a lot of solid players who buy straight into the Act III rather than getting there by the Act I, II route. That's where the toughest competition will come from.

The one I played in was a Sunday AM in early february, but i felt 75% of the players were average at best and 25% were fairly strong.

A number of the people mentioned that they were still up from the night before, but it did seem like a majority bought straight into the Act 3.

Good luck in yours. Ask if you have any other more specific questions.

i hope that this heavy snowfall in the last 24 hours might keep some of the stronger players away so that it fills with players like me that won their seat and are committed to play on that certain day....is the structure a reasonable one?

even though it was relatively easy to win the ACT I+II tourneys, it turned into a complete crap shoot for the short stacks when the blinds were getting up to 200-400 and eventually 300-600 when we hit the bubble period....should i assume that the structure is reasonable and will allow us to actually play it out?

As far as structure, you start with 3000 chips and 20 minute levels. blinds start at 25-50 and increase fairly fast.

My act 3 had 65 players so 195k in chips when we got down to the final 7 (top 5 got seats). Average stack was 27k and blinds were at 2k-4k with 500 ante so 9500 in every pot.

At 6 players it moved to 3-6k with 1k ante so 15k in every pot. To tell the truth i had about 5k left in the SB after posting Ante and Small Blind and was forced to stack off with 7-8 suited because LP moved in for 20k and i was getting 4 to 1 and I fortunately 2 paired against Queens and was back up to Average stack in one hand with 27k.

Moral of the story, you could say its a crapshoot at the most crucial point. I didnt feel bad though because same person with QQ would have busted in 6th had he not sucked out on AK with AJ on the river.

busted out around 45th (90+ registered, 7 seats given away)

so its time for my bad beat story...

blinds are 150-300 with a 50 ante, i am on the button with around 4000 chips, stacks of at least 10,000 to both the left and right of me, but for the most part the rest of the table is pretty low stacked compared to to the other tables that i can see.

i am dealt 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], and UTG+1 raises to 1500. he has just been seated at our table, and has around 6500 in front of him.

he is a generic frat boy WPT wannabe, with a popped collar and wraparound sunglasses. the rest of the table folds around to me, and my first instinct is to muck, as i cant see him having anything less than a pair of jacks if he was a solid player.

i then realize that he is wearing sunglasses and looks like a f*cking idiot, and immediately push in the rest of my chips, re-raising him another 2500

he quickly calls and turns over the hand ..... K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and he announces that he called because "i figured i had you dominated"

flop comes -

10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

i make my set and actually sit back in my chair, but i should have known better.

turn -

5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

his runner runner flush draw is now gone, and the river comes -

4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

giving him the seven-high straight. i call him a [censored] under my breath, and walk away from the table.

i'm dead serious when i say that i would have considered laying it down to one of the older players at the table that i respected, i just got a really strong feeling that he was trying to show off, so i insta-pushed.
