Default J8o in the BB - how should i protect this

ugly hand, i played it like a drawing middle pair hand since it was multiway and I have to deal with 3 potential overcards. this didn't seem right though, can I protect this hand better? flop check-raise? bet the turn, hope for a raise? went for the UTG+2 bet and overcalls on the river, but betting out and calling a raise seems better.

I'd bet the turn and hope UTG+2 raises. Usually I bet out on the flop with that, but that doesn't offer any hand protection unless UTG+2 is overaggro and will raise the flop with anything.

Interesting hand. I would have probably bet the flop to try to take control of things. If they won't let me, I'd probably go passive and check/call to the end.

Looking forward to hearing other people thoughts on this one...

I would bet the flop and see what happens from there.

On the river, I think bet and call a raise is the way to go.

UTG+2 hasn't shown any strength when I'm first to act on the flop. I checked since I had so many opponents. I am looking to narrow the field down. Normally I'll check-raise a late bettor. Or bet the turn into an early bettor. On this turn, I picked up a gutshot (granted its one-card), so I played for that. The river was unreasonable fear of the one-card straight. I need to bet that and call a raise.
