Default Position use in low-blind nl holdem

The more I read about holdem, the more position is emphasized, especially in no-limit play. I've read HEFAP and Super/System, but I'm still confused as to a way to exploit or defend against position. What books/articles should I read, or what suggestions does everybody have?

In case this changes anything, the regular game I play in (with hs acquaintances) is fairly different from what I understand most games are. The buy-in is from $5-15, with chips equalling one quarter. Blinds are $0.25 and .50, with no limit. One person has read the Hellmuth book, and another the Slansky book [for non-advanced players], but most of their strategies come from watching poker on TV. What will the best way to play here?

Sorry to keep asking questions and not being able to contribute to the discussions yet, but I'm still working on learning how to play.
