Default My WSOP #2 trip report.

WSOP was a nightmare. I just got back. I have my own bad beat story but that will wait to the end.

After waiting in line for 45 minutes to register to play in the WSOP there was a 3 hr wait (this is thursday at 8:30) to register to play friday. In that time they had computer errors and meltdowns as the line kept growing.

When we finally make it in it is announced that we are all going to be alternates, I am 48 away from the front. I figure OK i came to play in this event so I will play as an alternate 48 i'll get in early enough. However they didn't know how to handle the alternates, that stalled the line for 20 minutes. We finally start moving and I get my $$ in so far so good.

After that i play a fun loose game of 1/2 no limit for an hr or so, but felt my self getting tired after a 22 hr day and head back. A tip for those going, take your winning chips to the casino cage on your way out. The line to cash in at the WSOP cages is rediulous.

Friday morning i get up early, and head over to the rio, play some craps then go to the WSOP area. Its a zoo, there are still people waiting and there is this new magical list. There was a computer glitch the night before some seats were triple seated and they redrew the seats, went 11 handed, and the alternates from the night before got seats.

They should have posted the table listings on the big screen that was counting down the time to tournament start or on the screen that had teh waiting list for cash games. After i found my table I must have repeated 40 times what happened and where the list was. The list however was not horribly random, everyone at my table had the last name starting with A including 3 family members, two of which changed tables.

Ok.. My tournmaent.. I won the first small pot $50. It took our table 10 hands before we saw a flop. I never did catch a flop. I was on the button with a 3 limpers ahead of me raised with mh KTs on the button to 150 hoping to chase away or get heads up, everyone called, i miss the flop and the BB bet 250 so i folded there was a small hit. The biggest hit was trying to go after our short stack, who had said when i stepped away, he would go all in with nothing less then AJ. Not hearing that he had 550 left goes all in I figure I to try to make a move and had QJ in my hand and call. Sure enough he had AJ suited we both missed and his AJ holds up. I am now down to under 1000.

I didn't see hand and was blinded away to around 450 when at the end of round 2 i pick up AK then KK right after another go all in and just pick up blinds. sigh..

After the break i pick AQ suited the player across from me goes all in for 250. I call all in. Didn't catch an A or Q.. down again. The next hand i get A8 s i am down to 300 or so i go all in (my 100 bind is comming) get called by 99 didn't spike an A i am out.

So i go play craps. Cathy Liebert shows up. She is actually a very nice person.

But that is my WSOP experience. If i play next year (going to play alot of smaller events in LA and satellites for evernts), I will pre-pay/register and avoid the lines. It was a zoo, but I am glad i did it.
