ok, and a hypothetical: say i had top set and bet out with two callers(as above), but this time im first to act on the turn when the flush card came. assuming the same pot size, would you fire another shell to see where you are (if so, how much?), or check and see what the two callers do?

any thoughts on this hand would be greatly appreciated.

I say you fold it. The way I see it, calling is gamble here and it's still early in the game. Save your chips and outplay them when the blinds increase. 75 isnt a very small bet, and with 2 callers, it's likely someone does have the flush. The only hands you beat here are J10 and AJ.

If you were first, I would check. I would call a small bet and fold to a huge one. It may be just me, but betting to see "where your at" isnt that effective at these limits IMO. Someone might reraise you with AJ or J10 to find out where hes at.

Overall, I just dont think you should risk too many chips early without a sure hand. Brian

In a ten you would probably be good and even if your not the board could pair on the river I would call.

I bet more on the flop, I think 75 is too small to knock out someone with a flush draw, especially in the 10+1s, that's an easy call for a lot of players. I probably bet about 125 on the flop. If they call, and the flush hits like that, things get interesting.

Another to consider here, the caller is from the big blind, yes, the flush is out there, but it would be more a scare if they weren't playing from the BB. You could also be looking at a 2 pair here, like 3s and 4s, or jacks and 4s, who may be betting to keep you from drawing to a 4 card flush.
