Quick preflop question
I'm still pretty new to no limit so I'm trying to get a feel for when it is right to lay down a hand preflop. I've played a fair amount of limit hold'em in the last year, and I don't think I've ever layed down hands this strong preflop. Anyway, what do you guys think of these situations, easy folds? Should I have done anything differently?
Opponents were unknown at the time. I assume that if you know your opponent to be wild/maniacal these hands may turn into a call? Re: Quick preflop question
Good folds on both.
Hand 1: JJ isn't the kind of hand I really want to go to the felt very often. It's usually a fold for me in that situation. If my opponent were very loose or hyper-aggressive I would be happy to call with it though. Hand 2: With AK my standard line is to raise if no one else has, call small raises, and dump it facing serious aggression. I rarely reraise with it. -Ben |

Re: Quick preflop question
both laydowns are fine.Seeing as how both villains were UTG, I give them credit for their hands.
I don't like to reraise AKs especially if villain is maniac as you reopen betting and you can't really call his push. If you really think he is so LAG that you need to make a stand and you believe he would call your raise with AQ, KQ, KJ, when you reraise, reraise all in. typically though its better to just save your stack and get them on a later hand where you know you are favorite. |
