Default Knowing your enemy

Generally when I play, I at least try to put all of my opponents into one of the 4 fundamental categories (tight/loose, passive/aggressive). An professional once told me that it's very important to know what kind of hand someone will checkraise with.

Does anyone (that could reasonably call himself an expert) have any thoughts on this?
