i played one on empire a few days ago. didnt realize til level 3! i ahdnt played a hand til then. was wondering why everyone was just raising the minimum though...

Honestly this happens to anyone who plays a lot online. I developed some habits I do so that I always know what I am signing up for. It always amazes me when I play qualiifers on PP how many people ask "what are the payouts?"...how can you sign up for something if you dont know what the payouts are? Do they even know how much it costs? LOL

As a rule of thumb, know what you are signing up for and the payouts otherwise you dont know how to play in certain situations....

play only the top 15 starting hands, sit tight. when you do get a hand, put in as many bets as you could preflop. etc., etc.
steal blinds later on when they're worth it.
survival and putting your chips in at the right time is more important.

I did it the other way on Stars once. Saw "holdem" for $150, and I was like "SWEET!!! When did they add this tourney?" Then when I limped my pocket fives and some one potted it, I learned my mistake.
