Default Common Situation

All fold to you on button where you raise with AK of clubs. Both blinds call. Typical 30-60 players. The flop is Jc5h4s. Small blind bets. Big blind raises. Now what?

I don't know what typical 30-60 players play like but...

You're getting 9-2 on your call. Assuming an A or K would be good, you're about a 3-1 dog. Add that to a backdoor flush draw/ and 2 different backdoor straights, it seems like a hand you may want to stick around for.

3bet.

I think this is an easy fold.

Never got further than 'stick around' in your post and read that as a call. I guess I'll have to change my answer now but I hate calling in this situation.

We agree again.
Calling is definitely the worst of the 3 options.

I think I'd let go here, although it definitly hurts to muck. The pot is just too small, first player bets, second raises, a King or an Ace may not even be a clean out (these guys may hold A4,AJ,A5,KJ etc). I further think the backdoor flush cannot be considered here, because again, way too few players to make it profitable to stay in this pot.

Cheers

Default Fold?? Never.

I find it hard to believe anyone is so weak-tight that their going to just fold thier hand here evertime, or so analytical that they're figuring pot odds to improve when they likely have the best hand.
I'm 3 betting this against typical players almost evertime.
Your raise on the button after everyone folds is almost always going to be assumed as a steal by a typical 30-60 player. As a matter of fact, 3 betting here will probably win you the pot right there enough times to justify it. Folding a strong hand because of some BS flop aggression when others assume you are much weaker than normal is poor poker. Other positive scenarios of 3 betting the flop include:

1)knocking out one of the players and getting the other to fold on the turn.

2)Having both call you and taking a freebie on the turn, if the situation calls for it.

3)going to a showdown with the best hand, either improved or not.

The negative is you put a couple of bets in with a strong hand and lose. That's just called the way it is. In the long run, folding is always going to net you a loss here. Playing this aggressively will net you a profit.
