Three-betting this river is total spewing in my opinion without a read that villain is very aggressive and/or has a tendency to get out of line.

Call the river raise. That's the point at which I start to puke. Waiting until you get capped (or even get a three-bet called and lose) to puke is not good for the digestion.

The way your opponent played this hand looks like you are behind when he smooth calls the turn 3bet and still pops you on the river.

Without a read, I'm just calling the river raise. If you have a read that he'd raise the river with hands you beat, then 3 betting is a good move.

I'm not 51% confident that you are ahead on the river - really, how often does one pair win in a full ring game anyway, especially against an opponent who raises?

Your river bet/raise is incorrect, do you see why?

Look, I'm not a huge fan of Jason's river play but I think some of you are overreacting. While it seems obvious he's trying to squeeze every last bit og equity out of his hand, seems likely that in this scenario, on average he's more often behind than not. But I don't think its totally completely horrible. I think a lot of you are also assuming he's committed to showing down his hand. He isn't.

Not a good play, for sure. Not horrid.

I bet, he raises, I 3-bet

I intend to call a cap and kill myself.

Why on God's green earth would you call a cap? Look at the board. There's zero chance you're ahead of someone who caps.

How many guys who read this hand advocated just calling the river raise but if they three bet would call a cap?

I wouldn't

This is from Jason's OP:

[ QUOTE ]
River: 2
I bet, he raises, I 3-bet

I intend to call a cap and kill myself.

[/ QUOTE ]

Which implies that Jason is going to show down his hand

Jason,

I just call the river against an unknown. He is taking a fairly weird line if he has filled up. I suspect alot of times we are against a pair with a busted draw of some sort. Sometimes QQ.

The thing that makes me legitimately wary of a full house is the silly line he took. People get weird with big hands.

Against some players I would not mind the raise on the river. It is just that right here I don't think we know enough about our opponent to even begin to know if it +EV or not.

Keeping in mind of course that I am fairly conservative. So I would not make that raise, but I am willing to acknowledge theere will be many times it is correct. Just right here we do not have enough info.
