The best time to play satilites

I've noticed that just before a major tourney starts, there are alot more satilite tables open for that tourney. I assume that there are more compulsive gamblers there trying to get lucky so the games should be softer, no?

Does anybody have any evidence of this? Or should I stick to the Multi-table satilites?
