Dell 2001 shimmering. Please help

Hi, thanks for reading and for your support. Also I would like to say thanks to AncientPC for so much information.

I have recently adquired a Dell 2001FP (I live in the South, so this kind of things come a lot of days later than in the North).

Anyway, the problem is that I am experiencing some shimmering(?), flickering(?), or interference when the resolution is 1600x1200. I am using an analog connection, and after adjusting the pixel clock and the phase I have some nice results, but the density of the lines in my screen (fonts, for example) are now thinner, so I am not comfortable yet.

Has anyone of you suffered this sort of things?
Any advice will be appreciated.

Have you got ClearType enabled?

If that isn't the problem, try a DVI card instead of analog. I couldn't tell the difference myself, but some people have reported they can...
