If you're going to call a push, why not push yourself, and if you're folding to a push, why put in 1/2 your stack?

[/ QUOTE ]

I would want to get all my chips into the pot with TT as the small stack. So, often you've got to entice somebody else into aggressive play rather than just picking up the blinds with an all-in push.

This "seems" absolutely contrary to almost everything I thought I've learned here....No disresepect at all, beacuse I search for your posts quite honestly, but I'd like to see this hand discussed at length in MTT....if I'm this far off base, I'd like to be set straight, or at least shown the road of discovery

Hand 63 - Scott Lazar has the button in seat 9, Kanter limps for $120,000, Hachem limps from the small blind, and Black raises it to $620,000, Kanter calls, and Hachem folds.

The flop comes Jh-7c-5c, Black bets $500,000, and Kanter raises to about $1,600,000. Black quickly reraises to $6,600,000, and we've got two of the chip leaders ready to tangle at the final table.

Daniel Negreanu and David Williams are sitting right next to me (providing live audio commentary on our Webcast), and they both think that Kanter was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and they think he's just stalling before he folds. He does not look happy, and nothing about his demeanor says, "Call." Black is carefully watching him, with a half-smile on his face, which seems to be his standard expression at big moments like this.

The longer Kanter takes to think, the more likely he is to have a piece of the board, or possibly a draw. There's some eye contact between the two players, and Aaron Kanter smiles as Andrew Black gets up to take a stroll around his chair.

It's been a full five minutes, and Aaron Kanter finally folds his cards. Andrew Black picks up a very large pot.

I stand corrected. He just folded. Wow! Didn't think this guy could let go of a hand.

Nope. It seemed like a golden opportunity to win a massive pot simply by calling and checking to your opponent on the turn.

Hand 65 - Andrew Black has the button in seat 2, Hachem raises to $360,000, Barch reraises to $2,360,000, Bergsdorf reraises all in for $2,740,000, Hachem folds, and Barch instantly calls. Barch shows pocket tens (10d-10c), but he's dominated by Bergsdorf's pocket jacks (Jh-Js).

The flop comes Qd-10s-4h, and Barch has flopped a set of tens to take a commanding lead. Bergsdorf needs to catch a jack or a runner-runner straight to win the flop.

The turn card is the 8d, and Bergsdorf needs to catch a nine or a jack to stay alive. The river card is the Qh, and Daniel Bergsdorf is eliminated in seventh place, earning $1,300,000.

Obviously, it's hard to say because I haven't played with Kanter, but I don't like the way he played it. The board has no apparent threatening draws and, from what the coverage has shown, Kanter is an aggressive player who's likely to bet again on the turn. I think if Black just calls on the flop he doubles up.

Wow, I didn't realize Hachem ever had such a small percentage of the chips at the final table.
