Default Pot Limit Question

Hi - just a quick question. Here's the scenario: In a PL holdem game - blinds are 100 /200. Big blind only has 100. SB posts 100, BB is all in with his 100. There is only 200 in the pot.

What is the maximimum bet that utg can make?

I'm thinking you'll get a more authoratative answer if you ask this in the Pot-Limit & No-Limit forum.

I believe the answer is that the UTG player can make it $400 to go. He calls the $100 BB and can then raise it the size of the pot, which is now $300, thus $400 total.

I know the issue here is whether he can "complete" the big blind before computing the size of the pot. I think not based on a loose reading of Robert's Rules about no-limit/pot-limit all-ins.

Since I rarely play pot-limit poker, I can't really stand by my answer.

T

My interpretation is as follows:

UTG has to 'call' a full bet of 200, regardless of the fact that no-one has yet put in a full bet. This would give a total pot of 400, which is the amount he can raise.

Therefore, his minimum bet is 200 and his maximum is a raise of 400 to make it 600 to go.

600

He must put in 200(the amount of the big blind regardless of the stack size of the player in the BB) to call, making the pot 400, he can then raise hos 200 by the 400 in the pot.
