Default Vegas trip report 8/21-8/23(some poker content)

Landed in Vegas about 1pm on Sunday. Caught a $15(ugh) cab to Aladdin where I had a $49 a night room. Checked in and showered. Headed downstairs to cash in my $50 voucher for slot play. Found a dueces wild $0.25 video poker machine and wound up cashing $40. Sweet +ev play right off.

My friend and I headed out to Outback at Casino Royale about 7pm. It was higher priced than regular Outbacks, but the kinda food we both were looking for at the time. Not bad at all. Played a little slots in Royale. That was a mistake. This place is pretty much a dump, but great for low limit craps.

Watched the pirate show at Treasure Island. Totally lame, and a complete waste of time. God what a bad show.

Headed across the street to the Wynn. Not a bad place at all. I like the fake waterfalls. The cocktail waitresses are really hot. Someone there has great taste. The poker room was just okay. Nothing really wowed me, and the place seemed kinda small. For added measures, I dropped a duece for Mr. Wynn. Nothing like a clean luxurious bathroom.

Headed over to Imperial Palace for some low level BJ. Betting $10-40, I lost $230 and then recovered $200 of it. Lots to drink, but I wanted to kick this female dealer who frowned everytime I hit BJ and wanted some beads. I think she thought I was gay or something. BTW, those beads are great to hand out to hot girls on the strip.

By this time, I was pretty tanked and we headed back to the Aladdin. I guess it was about 1am. Decided I wanted to play some poker and hit the Bellagio for some $8-16. Sat down and ordered a dirty martini on the rocks(the first of many). The game was unbelievably loose/weak, and I soon had added a few stacks to my $400 buy in. After a couple of hours, the table got short handed and eventually at about 4am, none of the other players wanted to continue. I had won about $800 and should have gone back to my room. Instead, I roll into a $4-8 game. I sit down next to a youngish guy and his lady friend who is ordering screw drivers. She keeps calling them "orange juice and vodka" He explains that she does not like to say the word "screw driver". She then proceeds to fire off multiple volleys of the f-bomb. With a totally dead pan face, I turn to her and say "You are really offending me. I would appreciate if you would not use language like that." I give them a few seconds of stunned silence, and then burst into laughter. It was actually a pretty good moment and had the whole table laughing.

I proceed to win zero hands for the last two hours and drop about $250. The kid that was next to me got killed too. A very aggressive player at the table kept sucking out pretty fierce. He did not have a lot of money in front of him, so I guess the dummy was pocketing chips. The kid went on a rant about how great a player the aggressive player(with sunglasses and all at a $4-8 game)was(sarcastically of course) and how the $4-8 game is impossible to beat. I eventually stumbled out of Bellagio at 7am. I must have been some sight almost crawling across LV Bl to the Aladdin. I went to the coffee shop at Alladin to get some morning grub. I almost crapped my pants when I looked at the menu. Pancakes and Waffles for $11-13!! WTF!?!!? I got up and walked out without ordering. I grabbed a bag of cheetoes in the gift shop, went up to the room and crashed.

Woke up Monday at 1:30 pm. Cheetoes were strewn all over my bed. Nice. Showered and ehaded downstairs. My friend and I headed off to downtown. $22 cab ride. Sheesh. Went to the Golden Gate deli. Their specialty sandwhiches are quite good. I got the one that has corned beef, swiss cheese, saurkraut, and thousand island. Also got a shrimp cocktail and a beer. All for a little over $9. Not bad at all. Played some $3 craps there with 5x odds. Started off losing, but then a woman rolled for about 8 or nine minutes. Wound up cashing for $80 profit. Went to check out GN's poker room. Nothing special, and small. Rolled accross the street to Binions. Man that place is in lots of trouble. Very few customers. I saw no reason to go there. We decided to head back to the strip and play in the Aladdin 7pm tournament.

Tournament was pretty uneventful most of the way through. I was short chipped after teh 3rd round and never got a decent stack. I won a few big blinds specials. Thats it. I never caught AK, AA, KK, QQ, or TT. I also ahd to muck at least 3 AJ's preflop. I squeak into the final table(only 36 entries) and raise all in a few times to take the blinds. I am still on life support wiht 2600 in chips and the blinds $400-800. I pick up JJ UTG+1. The UTG calls and I go all in. Guy behind me cold calls the allin. Everyone folds to UTG who calls. UTG has AQ, maniac behind me has J8s. Nobody helps and I more than triple through. I should note that maniac has been playing like this all tournament and taking some insane swings. I estimate he had the chip lead and lost it at least 5 times throughout the tournament. Apparently he is a dealer there and actually was a interesting and nice guy. Anyway, I manage to take those chips and kinda limp into 3rd place and take $248. I yell out to my buddy "we're going to OG(I meant Spearmint RHino)". The dealer says "when are we going". I look at him like he's nuts. I was pretty tanked, and really had nothing to say.

So we head off to SR. Damm fine looking girls there. Start off at the tip rail next to a stage. Watched and tipped dollars for a while. Some of the dancers are pretty "friendly" on the rail, and this is definitely the place to take a bi-curious lady friend. After a while we went to sit at a table. Some asian dancers my friend apparently knows came by and we chilled and talked for a while. After they leave, this really wild stripper sits down with me. She is buzzed and drinking jack and coke. Got a few dances, then she called her friend over. Sat and talked for quite a while. I guess they were a bit bored and didn't want to work. This is actually how I remember OG being....girls would jsut come and sit and drink with you. You didn't have to get dances or anything. Usually it was because some high roller had come in earlier in the night and dropped several hundy or several grand. The girl's shift was not over yet, but she didn't care if she made more money. Anyway, the girls start launching into quoting lines from Team America, which was pretty funny.

Headed back to the room and crashed. Woke up the next morning with a pounding headache. Headed to the airport, and went home.

Bottom line is BJ, craps, Poker til 7am, good food, tournament cash in, strippers quoting Team America. Great stuff.
