Yikes. I felt very uncomfortable in this hand, even being in position.

Flop
$2 enough? Bet full pot?

Turn
Turn is pretty scary. Adds an extra spade, and puts the straight draw on the board. Villain leads. I considered a raise here, but wimped out and just called for $3 to see what happens on the river.

River
Another spade. Awesome. Now the flush and straight are both definitely out there. Here, i'm -very- glad I have position.

The call here for $4 is ok right?

I imagine my biggest mistake is not protecting my cards at either the flop or turn.

What is standard here?

He honestly didn't bet that strongly. You had a 6xBB raise, and pet 2/3 pot. That signifies strength. I raise the turn and call a push/get all my money in on the river.

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere, but I don't think it's in the SSNL FAQ: it's bad karma to use players' real nicks. You'll not hit your next seven flush draws every time you do this.

Yeah, my brain says "raise the turn to $9 or more", but chances are I woulda been shaken, too, and glad that I only put in $4 more after calling his turn bet.

Generally you see stuff like this when Villain thinks you have AK or somesuch and doesn't believe you have an overpair.

I'd pot the flop. You want to get money in there and on this board if he calls 2 he'll call 3.

I wouldn't worry so much about the straight possibilities on the turn. Sure, he could have called your flop bet with QJ since that's 2 overcards to go with the gutshot. But this is unlikely and his turn bet is weak. Raise it.

Then of course at least call river. It's a blank. He wasn't drawing to runner-runner flush -- he only has it if he backed into it by accident with JT or J9 of spades or something. Should you raise river? This I'm not sure of.

pot the flop. raise the turn. If it wasn't so draw heavy just calling with position is fine, since villians range is fairly wide here, but how it is, you want to get money in when you're ahead, or find out now if villian connected before you invest anymore. If villian pushes river, you're likely folding. You need to take charge of the hand and not allow villian to steal it from you on the turn.
River call is standard. You can argue for a raise, but how it's played I'd just call too.

i raise that turn and insta-call if he reraise pushes.. no way he pushes with 2 pair or nuts there... if he calls your turn raise and then bets out on the river.. thats what would worry me

Pot flop. Turn I'd probably just call and be content to see a cheap showdown. Same w/ river.
